An independent sample room focuses on pattern making, fit, construction, sample sewing and revisions. This often gives new or complex styles more focused development time and a more flexible schedule. Factory sampling is usually tied to an eventual production order, so small orders may be scheduled later during busy periods. For the sample rooms Derrick works with, the completed digital pattern is part of the agreed handover, allowing you to take the approved pattern, sample and tech pack to a suitable production factory. A factory may keep patterns within its own production process, so pattern handover should be confirmed in advance.
Both. Derrick can help a new brand develop a collection from the first brief and support an established brand with sourcing, sampling or scaling existing production. The scope is tailored to the stage of your project.
No. You can start with an idea, reference images, a sketch, moodboard, existing garment or physical sample. Working with dedicated partner designers, we can create design drawings and tech packs for you. We can discuss the style and what you need, then agree on the design and tech pack fees based on the complexity and scope of work.
Yes. A sample is developed and approved before bulk production begins. You can book pattern making and sample sewing as a standalone service, then decide whether to proceed with production after reviewing the result.
Often, yes. The practical minimum depends on the product and level of customization. Ready-made products and light customization can usually begin at lower quantities, while full custom development, new molds or special hardware normally require higher minimums.
A photo is useful for direction, but a physical reference is the most reliable way to judge color, hand feel, weight and construction. We can source the closest suitable options and explain any important differences before you decide.
No. Derrick works independently with a network of specialist suppliers, factories and long-term professional collaborators. Together, we match each project with suitable people based on product type, construction, quality level, quantity, target price and schedule, while Derrick remains your main point of contact.
For paid sourcing projects, the deliverables can include organized supplier details, quotations and sample information according to the agreed scope. Direct introductions can be discussed after engagement and once suitable options have been identified.
Every project is quoted individually according to scope, complexity, product count and the support required. Depending on the work, this may be a day rate, hourly support, an ongoing arrangement or a fixed project fee. Third-party costs such as samples, freight and testing are quoted separately.
Yes. Support can continue through factory confirmation, pre-production details, scheduling, production follow-up, quality inspection and shipping coordination.
