Material direction

Fabric and trim sourcing

Fabric sourcing at Guangzhou’s Zhongda fabric market can include swatch collection, matching materials to reference samples, and finding suitable in-stock fabrics and garment trims for designers and fashion brands.

Derrick regularly works on the ground in Guangzhou’s Zhongda textile markets and has extensive hands-on experience searching for materials across different suppliers. Depending on the project, Derrick also works with fabric sourcing specialists to broaden the search, compare suitable options and collect physical swatches around your brief.

Instead of relying on a single supplier’s catalogue, we search across the fabric markets and supplier network so you can review real material options before committing to sampling or bulk production. Most swatches we present are selected from in-stock fabrics with no fabric minimum order quantity, although stock can change and special colors or finishes may require minimums.

A

Precise matching

Provide a physical swatch, garment, reference image or detailed material requirements. We focus on matching the color, hand feel, weight, composition, construction and other relevant specifications, then normally present two or three practical supplier routes according to the agreed scope.

B

Broad search within a defined direction

Give us a specific fabric direction with a small number of boundaries—for example, knit fabrics with interesting textures, silk fabrics with a particular jacquard motif, selvedge denim, or greige cotton twill. For each defined direction, we typically collect 10 or more different swatch cards from different suppliers. If we find more fabrics in the market that fit the direction, we will collect additional swatch cards for you.

Design preparation

Design drawings and tech packs

Derrick works with long-term partner designers who can turn your references, sketches, moodboards or early ideas into clear design drawings and practical tech packs. The professional design and technical-document work is completed by the partner designers, while Derrick remains your main point of contact and coordinates the brief, feedback and communication.

Our tech packs can be prepared in a localized format that is clearer and more practical for Chinese factories, pattern makers and garment technicians to follow. We can also adapt an existing English tech pack into a bilingual English–Chinese version or provide translation support when required.

  • Design development from references, sketches, moodboards or early concepts
  • Front and back garment flats with detail callouts
  • Construction, workmanship and finishing instructions
  • Optional English–Chinese adaptation or translation of existing tech packs

Garment development

Pattern Making & Sample Development

Working with long-term pattern makers, experienced sample makers and independent sample rooms, we turn your design or technical information into a physical garment sample.

We coordinate pattern making, sample sewing, fitting feedback and revisions, helping you develop the garment until the shape, measurements, construction and details are ready for your intended use.

This service is available as a standalone development service. You are not required to continue into bulk production with us. Once the sample is completed, it can be used for presentations, photoshoots, further development or handed over to your chosen manufacturer.

Factory pairing

Derrick helps with manufacturer sourcing, sample development and production coordination for swimwear, gowns and evening dresses, streetwear, activewear, men’s suits and formalwear, denim, jackets, cosplay costumes and outdoor wear. Based in Guangzhou, he matches suitable factories in China around your product requirements and order quantity.

You do not need to approach and test a long list of factories yourself. We draw from a pre-screened network and evaluate suitable options according to your product type, order volume, technical requirements and quality standards.

Once a suitable route is agreed, Derrick introduces the selected factory and remains your main point of contact, keeping the project requirements and communication clear before factory development begins.

Factory execution

Factory sampling and production follow-up

After a suitable factory is confirmed, we coordinate factory samples, organize correction comments and help align the approved materials, measurements, construction and finishing details before bulk production begins.

During production, Derrick remains your main point of contact while we follow the schedule, communicate progress and coordinate the confirmations or corrections needed to keep the order moving towards inspection and shipment.

If you already have a fabric supplier, sample room or garment factory, you can book support for the stages that need local follow-up. Derrick can help clarify technical requirements, follow sample revisions, check production progress and coordinate inspection or shipment handover.

  • Material, measurement and construction confirmation
  • PP sample coordination and approval follow-up
  • Production schedule and progress tracking
